Excursion To The Botanical Gardens - 17th February 2024

A special invitation was extended to IBSA members for an excursion and afternoon high tea at the Botanic Gardens by Dr. A A Mao, Director of Botanical Survey of India and Mr. G.M. Kapur of Intach in the presence of Ms. Nameeta Prasad, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Members got a glimpse of the rejuvenation and regeneration of the Botanical Gardens including conservation efforts of the iconic 275 years old Great Banyan Tree along with maintaining a collection of more than 3 million plant specimens. Members also interacted with Dr. Nilina Deb Lal, Programme Director of the Roxburgh Project engaged in extensive restoration work of buildings of pre-independence era. It was indeed a special way to spend a Saturday morning.
